Redbond Lodge Residents Enjoy a Special Trip to the Queen Elizabeth II Exhibition at Buckingham Palace

Residents from Redbond Lodge Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes group, enjoyed a memorable minibus trip to London to visit the Queen Elizabeth II Exhibition at The King’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace, where they had the opportunity to see some of the late Queen’s most iconic outfits up close.

The group enjoyed lunch before visiting the exhibition and finished the day admiring Buckingham Palace from its gates.

The exhibition was particularly meaningful for Redbond Lodge residents, who remembered Queen Elizabeth II throughout her life, from her early years and marriage to her coronation and reign. The trip gave Redbond Lodge residents the opportunity to see the outfits they had seen throughout history, including her christening gown, wedding dress and coronation dress, as well as ball gowns, day dresses, military uniforms, tartans, tweeds, hats, shoes and scarves.

Each outfit brought back memories and offered Redbond Lodge residents a chance to reflect on the Queen’s remarkable place in British history. Seeing these iconic pieces in person made the day especially memorable for everyone who attended.

Marleen, resident at Redbond Lodge, described the experience as “an amazing day. Just wonderful”, while another resident, Doreen, reflected on the Queen’s lasting legacy, saying: “She will never be forgotten, she will always be with us.”

The trip was a wonderful opportunity for Redbond Lodge residents to connect with cherished memories and celebrate the life and legacy of a much-loved monarch.
