Male residents at Maun View Care Home part of the Runwood Homes Group, enjoyed a special lunchtime trip to a local pub after requesting a “just the lads” outing during a recent residents’ meeting.

The wellbeing team arranged for residents to visit The Rufford Pub, located close to the home, where they enjoyed a traditional pub lunch of fish and chips along with a pint of bitter. The minibus outing was designed to give residents the chance to enjoy time together in the local community while strengthening friendships and social connections.

Lucy, Lifestyle Coordinator at Maun View Care Home, said: “Taking the male residents to lunch was requested through the residents meeting. Residents asked in the residents meeting to go for a pub lunch, ‘just the lads,’ so it was lovely to be able to facilitate that for them. Everyone said they really enjoyed it and that the food was lovely. It was lovely to be out and about.”

The outing highlighted Maun View Care Home’s commitment to ensuring residents have a voice in shaping the activities they take part in and that their wellbeing remains at the heart of daily life in the home. It is important to the team at Maun View Care Home that residents feel fulfilled in their everyday lives and have meaningful input into the experiences they enjoy.

The atmosphere throughout the day was warm and relaxed, with residents sharing laughter, enjoying male bonding time, and appreciating the chance to get out into the community. A standout moment was hearing everyone say how much they had enjoyed themselves, with many commenting on how lovely the food was and how nice it was to spend quality time together making new friendships.
