Hollywood glamour arrived at Leatherland Lodge Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes group, on 30th July as the home rolled out the red carpet for an Academy Awards-themed Summer Soirée, treating residents to an afternoon of celebration, entertainment and special recognition.
The event featured a red carpet arrival, VIP passes, award presentations, live entertainment and refreshments, giving every resident the chance to feel like a true star. One of the day’s highlights came when residents presented the awards, while another heartwarming moment saw a singer hold a resident’s hand, prompting a smile and a heartfelt “thank you.”
The celebration was inspired by Runwood Homes’ Summer Soirée initiative, with Lifestyle Coordinator Jeanette creating an Academy Awards theme to ensure every resident felt valued and celebrated.
Jeanette, Lifestyle Coordinator, said: “We wanted every resident to feel special and appreciated. Walking the red carpet, receiving their VIP pass and taking part in the awards made everyone feel like a star, and it was wonderful to see so many smiles throughout the day.”
One resident said: “I had a wonderful time. I felt like a movie star and it really felt like I was at an awards ceremony.”
The event brought together residents, families, friends, staff and the wider community, helping to strengthen friendships, build new connections and create a supportive environment for everyone. With smiles, laughter and a warm atmosphere throughout, the Summer Soirée was a memorable celebration enjoyed by all.
