Stafford Hall Residents Enjoy a Day Out at Southend Casino

Residents at Stafford Hall care home, part of the Runwood Homes group, enjoyed a day trip to a casino in Southend-on-Sea.

On arrival, the residents were given a warm welcome by the casino staff. The group then relaxed in the lounge with refreshments before enjoying a delicious lunch of pizzas, chicken pieces, crackerjack prawns and chips.

The standout moment came when resident Ron Jackson turned just £3.50 into an impressive £34 jackpot. Delighted with his win, Ron laughed, “The drinks are on me! I couldn’t believe I won! I only put £3.50 in, and I’ve come home with £34. What a result!” He later added, “Always quit when you’re on top!”

The day prompted many wonderful comments from residents and their families. Daniel said, “I really enjoyed that day out!” His daughter, Kerrie, added, “I’m so glad Dad can go out with you on trips like this!”

Resident Elsie thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon, saying, “I like going out with you, especially when you get me a nice glass of wine! We can go dancing!” Jackie, daughter of a resident, also shared her appreciation, saying, “It’s been really lovely coming out today!”

The minibus trip gave residents the opportunity to enjoy spending quality time with friends and loved ones and engage with the local community.

Minibus trips like these give residents the opportunity to make new memories outside of the home while encouraging social interaction and connecting with the local community.
