Windmill House care home, part of the Runwood Homes group, is celebrating after being named the winner of the prestigious “Hidden Gem” Award in this year’s Wymondham in Bloom competition.
Over the past month, residents and staff have worked together during weekly gardening sessions to fill the gardens with colourful flowers and plants. Many of the blooms were generously donated by residents’ families, whose kindness helped create the beautiful displays now enjoyed throughout the home. Ins
The project was a true community effort, bringing together residents, volunteers, families and staff. Special recognition goes to Maintenance Man Simon, weekly volunteer John, and resident Bob, who particularly enjoys spending time outdoors planting and caring for the gardens.
A memorable highlight came when representatives from Wymondham in Bloom visited Windmill House to present the team with their Hidden Gem Award, certificate and prizes. It was a proud moment for everyone involved and a wonderful celebration of the dedication shown by the whole community.
The achievement has been met with heartfelt praise from residents, families and friends. Messages of congratulations included, “Congratulations on your award,” “Great job Bob and all that helped,” “Congratulations and well deserved,” and “How lovely, beautiful.”
Everyone at Windmill House is incredibly proud of this achievement and is excited to continue the gardening sessions, building on this success and enjoying the many benefits they bring.
