Residents at Windmill House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes group, celebrated the start of The Championships, Wimbledon with a morning of traditional treats, games and laughter.
The Wimbledon-themed event brought together residents, carers and the Lifestyle Team to enjoy fresh strawberries and cream, including chocolate-covered strawberries, alongside refreshing jugs of Pimms filled with fruit. Residents also took part in a fun game of balloon tennis using pool noodles, giving everyone the chance to join in.
Steph Gilding, Lifestyle Coordinator, said: “We wanted to bring a little bit of Wimbledon into the home for our residents. It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying the traditional refreshments, joining in the activities and sharing so many smiles and laughs together.”
Residents were delighted with the celebration. Resident GW said, “A lovely morning enjoying the start of Wimbledon while having strawberries and cream and a refreshing glass of Pimms.” Resident JR described it as “a lovely treat for a Tuesday morning.”
The event provided a wonderful opportunity for residents to come together, celebrate one of Britain’s favourite sporting traditions and enjoy a relaxing morning with friends.
