Robert, a beloved resident from Park View Witham, part of the Runwood Homes Group, was given a chance to reconnect with a cherished pastime when he enjoyed a day out at Chigwell Top Golf. After many years away from the game, Robert was able to practice his swing and share the joy of golfing with other residents, creating a truly special experience for all involved.
Robert, alongside several other residents and the Park View team, travelled to Chigwell Top Golf on their minibus for a fun-filled outing. The outing was a hit from the start, with Robert grinning ear-to-ear as he took to the driving range. His joy was contagious, and he quickly became the focal point of the group, offering tips and guidance to his fellow residents. It was a moment of both nostalgia and pride for Robert, who had long spoken about how much he enjoyed golf before joining Park View.
The idea for the outing came about after a meeting between Park View’s Home Manager, Alex, Lifestyle Coordinator, Diane, and Robert’s family. During the discussion, Robert’s family shared how much he had enjoyed being active in the past and how thrilled he would be to revisit the sport. They suggested that a trip to a driving range would be the perfect way to let Robert and other residents engage in some exercise and fun together.
When Robert arrived at Chigwell Top Golf, the atmosphere was nothing short of uplifting. His enthusiasm was clear, as he beamed with pride while taking to the range. “It was like standing next to Tiger Woods,” recalled Lifestyle Coordinator Diane. Robert’s happiness was palpable as he not only enjoyed the activity but also helped others with their swings. He even took the time to give a few lessons to Alex and Diane, showing off his golfing expertise.
The day was a true testament to the power of community and the importance of staying active and engaged. For Robert, it was a chance to revisit something he loved, and for the other residents, it was a memorable experience they could all share.
“I can’t tell you how special this day was,” Robert said, reflecting on the outing. “It’s been so long since I played, and I’m just so happy to be back at it. I’d love to do this again soon.”
The highlight of the day, though, was watching Robert come out of his shell, sharing his passion for the sport with others and connecting with the residents in a way that had not been seen before. The outing not only provided physical exercise but also fostered a strong sense of camaraderie and mutual respect among all involved.
For many residents, days like these are a reminder of the importance of community, companionship, and the joy of participating in activities that bring happiness into their lives. The success of this event serves as a shining example of how thoughtful, personalised outings can make a world of difference to the well-being of residents.
