Residents, staff, and family members at Laureate Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, came together on 8th February to celebrate a truly remarkable milestone—Gwen’s 100th birthday. The joyous occasion was marked with music, a delicious buffet, a beautiful birthday cake, and an abundance of love and laughter.
Adding to the excitement, the Mayor of Rotherham, Councillor Sheila Cowen, attended the celebration and presented Gwen with a special engraved vase as a heartfelt gift. The highlight of the day for Gwen was receiving a telegram from the King and Queen Consort, a prestigious honour that left her beaming with joy.
The event was a testament to the dedication and warmth of the Laureate Court team, ensuring that Gwen’s big day was filled with love, happiness, and unforgettable memories.
Gwen’s daughter, Chris, expressed her gratitude, saying: “We’ve just travelled back home today after an amazing day at Mum’s 100th Birthday Celebration… a truly magical day with so much razzmatazz, love, smiles, cards, lovely food, good wishes, and care… so much care. Mum probably had one of the best days of her life, and it was a joy to watch her loving it all.”
She also shared her appreciation for the kindness and dedication of the Laureate Court staff: “Please thank all the staff at Laureate Court for their kindness, compassion, professionalism, and sense of fun that made Mum’s birthday such an amazing day. Mum seems so relaxed, content, and happy, which is down to Laureate Court’s staff’s constant care, hard work, and dedication. Thank you, thank you, thank you!”
Senior Home Manager Lisa, shared how important it was to make Gwen feel special on such a momentous occasion, ensuring the day was one to remember.
The atmosphere was filled with love and joy, as Gwen celebrated a century of cherished memories, surrounded by those who care for and love her.
