Liberty House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, pulled out all the stops on Tuesday 15 July to celebrate a truly momentous occasion – the 106th birthday of beloved resident Freda Williams. In a day full of surprises and touching tributes, Freda was treated to a magical celebration that included a horse-drawn carriage ride through the village, a personalised video from residents and staff, and even a birthday card from Their Majesties King Charles and Queen Camilla.
The day began with a collage of photos from Freda’s life, adorned with heartfelt quotes and memories. The highlight of the morning was the grand arrival of the horse-drawn carriage – which left Freda visibly moved. The festivities continued with a video of birthday wishes from her Liberty House family, followed by the presentation of her royal birthday card.
Staff dressed in inflatable pig costumes to sing Happy Birthday – a nod to Freda’s early life on a pig farm. The celebration was so special it even caught the attention of ITV who documented the occasion.
Freda shared ‘I have been well and truly spoilt today! I’m overwhelmed with all the love and effort for my birthday, I’m very lucky to have made it to 106 years old. this has been once in a lifetime to have this happen to me and I have had the best day ever. I am truly grateful for everything and everyone.’
The atmosphere throughout the day was filled with love and laughter. Freda described it as the best day of her life, and it’s safe to say everyone in attendance will treasure the memory for years to come.
