Residents from Laureate Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, recently enjoyed a wonderful day out at Swinton Lock Activity Centre, fulfilling a much-requested wish to experience a boat trip along the canal.
The outing took place on 19th September 2025 and was filled with joyful moments, as residents, accompanied by staff and some family members, set off for a relaxing canal cruise, followed by a scenic walk and a classic fish and chip lunch.
Sharon, Lifestyle Coordinator at Laureate Court, commented:
“The residents had requested to go on this trip along the canal and really wanted to go on a boat trip. We thought that this was the perfect way to let them experience this.”
The idea for the trip came directly from the residents themselves. A few had mentioned they had never been on a boat before, and with Swinton Lock located nearby, the team saw it as the perfect opportunity to create a meaningful experience.
The day was full of excited chatter, as residents shared stories, laughed with one another, and created cherished memories.
These kinds of outings are a vital part of life at Laureate Court, encouraging residents to explore new experiences, build connections, and enjoy active, fulfilling lives.
