Four Acres Celebrates Diversity with Vibrant Cultural Food Day

Four Acres Cultural food day

Four Acres Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, recently hosted a joyful and colourful Cultural Food Day, bringing staff and residents together to celebrate the rich variety of nationalities and traditions within the home. The event took place on the 25th of November and was warmly received by everyone who attended.

Home Manager Jasmine Kessey shared her delight at the success of the day, saying: “Staff were excited to try different homemade foods from one another, and residents really enjoyed tasting and learning about staff culture.”

For the event, staff were invited to bring in homemade dishes from their home countries, offering an authentic taste of their heritage. From savoury favourites to sweet treats, the variety of dishes encouraged open conversations, new experiences and shared enjoyment.

Both staff and residents were actively involved, creating an inclusive atmosphere filled with laughter, curiosity, and cultural pride. Jasmine emphasised the importance of days like this, noting: “It’s important to celebrate cultures and different nationalities in the home, not only to bring the team together but to share experiences and traditions with our residents.”

The idea for Cultural Food Day came directly from staff who wanted an opportunity to come together and highlight the diversity within their team.

The atmosphere throughout the event was described as “happy and bright,” with everyone fully engaged in the activities. A standout moment was seeing residents confidently trying new foods, some even surprising themselves by enjoying dishes with a little extra spice!

Four Acres looks forward to hosting more events that celebrate unity, diversity and the joy of shared experiences.
