Silvanna Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, and The Grange Care Home have been touched by an extraordinary act of generosity this week, after local restaurant Lux and Lush donated 100 free meals to residents and staff as part of a festive gesture of giving.
The offer came, when Leah and Leyla Lifestyle Coordinator at Silvanna Court visited Wickford town centre seeking sponsors for their GoFundMe page. Not only did Lux and Lush make a donation, but they went far beyond expectations by offering 20 residents a free sit-down meal in the restaurant, along with an additional 80 takeaway meals for both care homes.
Leah expressed her gratitude on behalf of everyone:
“We would like to thank management from Lux and Lush for such a gracious and grand gesture.”
Resident Gene added:
“The food was absolutely lovely, well done to them.”
The initiative was made possible through the support of Leah’s partner, Alfred Filollis, and his friend Enes Sanil, the manager of Lux and Lush, who coordinated the generous donation. Residents and staff from both Silvanna Court and The Grange were able to enjoy the meals.
Leah shared why the moment was especially meaningful:
“It’s so important to keep the tradition of giving at Christmas, and this gesture truly embodied that spirit.”
The atmosphere during the event was filled with surprise, gratitude, and joy. Residents were overwhelmed by the kindness shown to them, and many expressed how much they enjoyed the food.
