Residents at Longview Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, recently enjoyed a much-anticipated community outing as part of the home’s “You Said, We Did” initiative, with a bus trip to Aroma Chinese followed by hot drinks at Starbucks.
The outing took place on 19 January 2026 after residents shared their wish to visit a Chinese restaurant during recent resident meetings. Listening carefully to these requests, the Longview Care Home team organised a trip that brought together residents, staff, and a valued volunteer for a fun and social day out.
Jessica, Lifestyle Coordinator at Longview Care Home, commented on the importance of the experience:
“It is important to listen to the residents wishes and take them on trips that are important to them.”
Residents embraced the lively and relaxed atmosphere, particularly enjoying the freedom to choose their own dishes from the buffet. One of the highlights of the day was the soft-serve ice cream machine, which proved very popular and sparked plenty of laughter and smiles.
Resident Hazel shared her enjoyment of the day, saying:
“I haven’t been to a Chinese restaurant for years so it was such a nice change. I loved the food and trying everything.”
The trip reflects Longview Care Home’s ongoing commitment to resident-led activities, ensuring that voices are heard and acted upon, and that residents continue to enjoy enriching experiences both within and beyond the community.
