Residents at Four Acres Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, recently took part in a heart-warming cooking activity on 12 January 2025, making homemade butter and enjoying it together on fresh bread with jam.

The activity brought together five residents, supported by Lifestyle team member Kirstan and two care staff. Using a simple and traditional method, residents poured cream into jars and shook them until it transformed into butter. The finished butter was then shared and enjoyed, creating a strong sense of achievement and togetherness.

Kayleigh, Lifestyle Coordinator at Four Acres, commented:

“Activities like this are so important for maintaining everyday life skills within the home. Our residents really loved this session as it brought back happy memories of making butter at home with their families.”

Residents responded very positively to the experience, sharing how much they enjoyed the process and the memories it stirred from childhood and family life. The atmosphere throughout the activity was warm and joyful, with plenty of smiles, laughter, and conversation as everyone spent quality time together.

A standout moment was seeing how pleased residents were with the final result. Many expressed pride in how the butter turned out and said they would love to ta

ke part in the activity again.

The homemade butter session reflects Four Acres commitment to meaningful activities that support wellbeing, independence, and social connection.
