Woodbury Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, is delighted to celebrate one of their residents, Joyce, who has officially published her children’s book, The Tale of Dilly Down.
Originally written by Joyce in 1992 at the age of 60 for her grandchildren — and future great-grandchildren — the book has now been published in 2026, just in time for Joyce’s 95th birthday. The publication was made possible by one of those very grandchildren, now grown, bringing Joyce’s treasured story to life for a new generation of readers.
Set in the peaceful woodland village of Dilly Down, the story follows a delightful community of woodland creatures whose happy and simple lives are disrupted by the arrival of a troublesome band of weasels determined to cause chaos.
Full of charm, humour, and heartwarming moments, The Tale of Dilly Down is a wonderful story about courage, kindness, community, and the power of friendship. It is perfect for young readers and families who love classic woodland adventures with timeless appeal.
Joyce’s creativity continues to inspire everyone at Woodbury Court, and she is already working on her next book, Mum’s Story at Woodbury Court.
Everyone is incredibly proud of Joyce and this fantastic achievement. Her story is a reminder that it is never too late to share your talents and bring your dreams to life.
