Residents, relatives, and staff at Bennett Lodge Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes group, came together on 8 May 2026 to celebrate VE Day with a lively musical afternoon featuring a special live singer performance.
The event was organised following discussions during a residents’ meeting, where residents shared ideas on how they would like to commemorate the historic occasion. To bring the celebration to life, the home arranged for a singer to perform favourite wartime classics and well-loved songs throughout the afternoon.
Residents and family members gathered in the dining room, where many enjoyed singing along, dancing, and celebrating together in a fun and enjoyable atmosphere. One of the standout moments of the event was hearing residents join together to sing songs made famous by Vera Lynn, creating a touching tribute to the spirit of VE Day.
