Residents at Jubilee Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes group, recently enjoyed a nostalgic outing to Bulwell Hall Park, following a request from residents Winnie and Margaret to revisit a place filled with treasured memories.
Residents travelled by the home’s minibus and spent a wonderful afternoon enjoying the beautiful sunshine, taking a leisurely stroll through the park and treating themselves to ice cream.
Reflecting on the day, Deborah, Lifestyle Coordinator at Jubilee Court, said:
“It was wonderful to see everyone’s faces light up. The weather was perfect, and as we walked around the park, the ladies and gentlemen shared memories of their dogs and muddy walks. It was lovely to see residents building community connections with people passing by.”
The idea for the outing came from resident Margaret, who fondly recalled walking around Bulwell Hall Park with her husband. At Jubilee Court, residents are encouraged to help plan activities and suggest destinations for minibus trips, ensuring outings are meaningful and tailored to their interests.
The atmosphere throughout the day was filled with nostalgia as residents recognised familiar paths they had once walked regularly with their dogs. Conversations flowed easily as memories were shared, bringing the past vividly back to life.
One of the standout moments of the trip was hearing residents reminisce about their dog-walking adventures and seeing them recognise routes they had enjoyed for many years. The visit provided not only an enjoyable day out but also an opportunity to celebrate personal histories, strengthen friendships, and promote wellbeing through shared experiences.
At Jubilee Court, creating meaningful moments and supporting residents to revisit places that hold special memories remains an important part of life at the home.
