Greenbanks Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes group, brought residents, families, staff and community members together for a joyful summer barbecue on 20 June 2026, filled with food, music and meaningful moments.
The event was organised by Lifestyle Coordinators Nirmala and Oyinkansola, with support from staff, families and the management team. The barbecue was created following residents’ feedback during a meeting, where they expressed their wish for more outdoor summer activities.
The afternoon included delicious food, music, games and social activities, giving residents the chance to enjoy fresh air, connect with loved ones and create special memories.
Residents and families shared positive feedback, with resident Chris smiling as he said, “I had so much fun and lots of food.” Many guests commented on the friendly atmosphere, enjoyable entertainment and opportunity to spend quality time together.
A highlight of the day was a beautiful love song performed by Emily, one of the carers, which she had composed herself. Guests also enjoyed a raffle organised by a resident’s family member, adding excitement and fun to the celebration.
The warm and joyful atmosphere, filled with laughter, music and conversation, made the barbecue a memorable occasion that supported wellbeing, reduced loneliness and strengthened relationships within the Greenbanks community.
