Almost 99-Year-Old Resident Harry Celebrated for Guinness World Record Wing Walk Achievement

Almost 99-year-old Eastham Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes group, resident Harry Heasman has been celebrated for his incredible charity wing walk, which earned him a Guinness World Record, with a special breakfast event hosted by social workers at South Essex Family Centre in Basildon.

Held on 25th June 2026, the celebration recognised Harry’s determination, bravery, and fundraising efforts. Harry was joined by Eastham Care Home staff and physiotherapist Reef Cowell from Reeflex for a memorable morning filled with warmth and celebration.

The social workers at South Essex Family Centre organised the event to honour Harry’s remarkable achievement, creating a special breakfast spread, decorating the room with balloons, and presenting him with a personalised celebratory plaque. Harry enjoyed chatting with the team about his record-breaking wing walk and the fundraising journey behind it.

To make the occasion even more memorable, Runwood Homes arranged for Harry to travel to and from the celebration in a Bentley, adding a special touch to a day dedicated to recognising his incredible accomplishment.

Home Manager Karolyn Sisto said:

“It was amazing for Harry to be recognised by the family centre for his wing walk and fundraising. We really appreciate all their support — it made the day one we will never forget.”

The celebration highlighted Harry’s inspiring achievement and showed that age is no barrier to taking on new challenges, making a difference, and living life to the full. It also reflected Eastham Care Home’s commitment to supporting residents to pursue their passions, celebrate milestones, and remain connected with the wider community.
