Humfrey Lodge Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, proudly opened its doors to residents, families and the local community as part of Care Home Open Week, hosting two days of activities designed to celebrate community connections and showcase life at the home.
The celebrations, held on 15 and 16 June, featured live musical entertainment, a special community coffee morning and opportunities for visitors to meet residents and staff while experiencing the warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes Humfrey Lodge so special.
The week began with a special musical performance from a relative of one of the home’s residents, who is a talented producer and composer. His keyboard performance delighted residents, creating an uplifting start to the celebrations and bringing everyone together through the joy of live music.
On the second day, Humfrey Lodge welcomed families, neighbours and members of the wider Thaxted community for a special Friends of Humfrey coffee morning. Guests enjoyed refreshments while meeting residents and the dedicated care team, learning more about daily life at the home and experiencing first-hand the strong sense of community that Humfrey Lodge is proud to create.
Malcolm, Home Ambassador at Humfrey Lodge, added:
“I have really enjoyed seeing so many visitors throughout the week. It has been lovely meeting new people, spending time with family and friends, and taking part in all the activities. Thank you to everyone who helped make it such a special week.”
The atmosphere throughout the week was warm, welcoming and filled with community spirit, with residents, visitors and staff enjoying meaningful conversations, shared laughter and experiences together.
Care Home Open Week was a great success at Humfrey Lodge, reinforcing the home’s commitment to building strong relationships with the local community while providing enriching experiences that support residents’ wellbeing and create opportunities for connection.
