Leawood Manor Enjoys Heartwarming Visit from 1st Covert Scout Group Squirrels

Leawood Manor care home, part of the Runwood Homes group, was delighted to welcome the Squirrels from the 1st Covert Scout Group on 14 June 2026 for a heartwarming intergenerational visit filled with laughter, conversation, and shared activities.

During their visit, the children spent time chatting with residents, proudly sharing the badges they are working towards and learning more about life at the care home. A highlight of the afternoon was when the Squirrels taught residents the “squirrel wiggle,” which brought plenty of smiles and laughter throughout the home. The children also presented handmade cards to residents, which were warmly received and greatly appreciated.

The visit created a lively and inclusive atmosphere, bringing together residents, staff, and young visitors through meaningful interaction and shared enjoyment. It highlighted the value of intergenerational activities in building connections and brightening the lives of everyone involved.

Sue Beckhet, lifestyle coordinator at Leawood Manor Care Home, said:

“It was an absolute pleasure to welcome the Scouts to our care home. The residents had the best time spending the afternoon with the young people, sharing stories, laughter and activities together. Seeing so many smiles and hearing the laughter throughout the home was truly wonderful. The Scouts brought so much energy, kindness and enthusiasm, and their visit created some very special memories for our residents. We are incredibly grateful for their time and look forward to welcoming them back again in the future.”
