Kenny the Pony Brings Joy to Liberty House Residents in Special Pet Therapy Session

Liberty House care home in Cantley, celebrated a heartwarming event on 1st February 2024, as residents were treated to a delightful visit from Kenny the pony. The event was organised by Wellbeing Lead, Jody, in conjunction with the celebration of the home’s administrator’s 40th birthday, fulfilling a long-standing wish of the residents to have more animals in their home.

Kenny, a gentle and lovable pony owned by Elle Jo, one of Liberty House‘s dedicated carers, made his way around the facility, bringing smiles and laughter to the residents. The joyous occasion allowed residents to pet Kenny and capture precious moments through photographs.

“Pet therapy holds a special place in our residents’ hearts, and Kenny’s visit was a dream come true for many,” said Jody, Wellbeing Lead at Liberty House. “Seeing the residents’ faces light up with happiness as they interacted with Kenny was truly heartwarming. We are grateful to Elle Jo for bringing him in and making this day so special for everyone.”

Joce B, a resident at Liberty House, expressed her delight, saying, “Wow, a pony! How cute he is. I love him so much. He is so soft and gentle.” The positive impact of Kenny’s presence was evident, creating a memorable and therapeutic experience for the residents.

The event not only brought joy to the residents but also highlighted the importance of incorporating pet therapy into the wellbeing and care for residents. Animals have a unique ability to uplift spirits and provide comfort, contributing positively to the overall wellbeing of individuals in a care setting.

“We cannot wait to have him back at Liberty. He was such a good boy,” added Jody, expressing the anticipation for future pet therapy sessions with Kenny.

Liberty House remains committed to enhancing the quality of life for its residents and creating memorable moments that go beyond traditional care practices.
