Loganberry Lodge, part of Runwood Homes group, is delighted to announce its victory at the Great British Bake Off – Care Home Edition on Tuesday the 14th of May. This prestigious event, hosted by the FaNs Network, saw several care homes from the Colchester area compete in a friendly baking competition. Our residents and staff worked tirelessly to create a Disney-themed cake that ultimately took home the top prize.
The theme for this year’s competition was Disney, and our team at Loganberry Lodge decided to draw inspiration from the enchanting world of Alice in Wonderland. The residents were deeply involved in the creative process, spending the week brainstorming various cake ideas and visiting local shops to select the perfect ingredients for their masterpiece.
The baking process was a true team effort. The cake was baked on Monday afternoon and decorated on Tuesday morning with the enthusiastic participation of our residents. The final creation, adorned with iconic props from Alice in Wonderland, showcased the creativity and collaborative spirit of everyone at Loganberry Lodge.
“It was great fun to be a part of this friendly competition, and it was even sweeter to know that the effort we put in sealed the win for us. The residents enjoyed the celebration, and it was a proud moment for us,” said Naomi Cranmer, Wellbeing Lead at Loganberry Lodge.
John Dunea, Home Manager, expressed his pride: “I’m proud of the residents and staff involved in creating this beautiful and tasty creation. I know my staff thoroughly enjoyed being a part of this and the wonderful memories they made with our residents.”

Resident Brenda summed up the joy of the event: “It’s always going to be good when there is cake.”
