Residents from The Grange care home, part of the Runwood Homes group, enjoyed a morning of music as they joined forces with the choir from Wickford Primary School for a special school assembly.
As part of the home’s ongoing intergenerational partnership with the local primary school, residents from The Granges One Voice Choir visited the school to perform alongside the children’s choir. In preparation for the event, both choirs rehearsed the same song independently before coming together for a joint performance.
Together, the two choirs performed before an audience of around 200 students and staff members, filling the assembly hall with music and smiles.
One resident shared: “We loved singing with the children; it brought me so much happiness and made me smile.”
The partnership between The Grange and Wickford Primary School has flourished over the past year through a variety of events designed to connect residents and pupils. Alongside regular visits, The Grange team has also delivered dementia awareness sessions at the school, helping pupils become Dementia Champions and encouraging greater understanding and compassion towards those living with dementia.
The Grange is committed to creating meaningful opportunities for residents to remain active, engaged and connected with their local community. Through its ongoing partnership with Wickford Primary School, the home looks forward to continuing its programme of intergenerational activities.
