Residents, staff, and families at Windmill House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, came together on 20 May to celebrate National World Bee Day with a fun-filled day of activities designed to raise awareness about the importance of bees and their role within the ecosystem.

The home was transformed into a hive of activity as everyone dressed in bright yellow and black outfits to mark the occasion. Residents enjoyed a variety of bee-themed arts and crafts, including creating their very own beehives, while the afternoon brought a delicious honey-tasting session featuring a selection of flavoured honeys served on warm crumpets.

As part of the celebrations, residents and staff also planted wildflowers within the home’s gardens to help support local bee populations and encourage pollination.

The event was inspired by the global awareness campaign surrounding National World Bee Day, helping residents engage with nature while learning about the vital role bees play as pollinators in the environment.

The celebration created a joyful atmosphere throughout the home and encouraged meaningful conversations about protecting wildlife and supporting biodiversity for future generations.1000039045 Wellbeing Windmill
