Residents from Windmill House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, enjoyed a day out to The Cat House in Norwich on 20 May, fulfilling one resident’s special wish to spend time surrounded by her favourite animals.
The outing was organised after resident PT shared her lifelong love of cats, having grown up with them and cared for many throughout her life. When the opportunity arose to book a session at the local cat café, the team at Windmill House Care Home were determined to make her wish come true.
Residents travelled by minibus to the café, where they spent a relaxing morning learning about the different rescue cats cared for by the café owner, while enjoying hot drinks and plenty of cuddles with the cats.
Resident PT said:
“A beautiful morning at the cat café. I grew up and had cats all my life, so to be able to go somewhere like this is beautiful and brings back lots of happy memories.”
Resident MD added:
“What a lovely morning — it made my day having lots of cuddles with the cats.”
The visit highlighted the importance of meaningful activities and person-centred experiences, helping residents stay connected to lifelong passions, interests and the wider community.
