A Day of Gratitude: Woodbury Court Celebrates NHS and Emergency Workers

In a heartfelt tribute to the dedicated healthcare professionals who serve the community, Woodbury Court care home, part of the Runwood Homes group, hosted an NHS and Emergency Service Appreciation Day on the 9th of September. This special event aimed to recognise and thank our NHS and emergency staff for their tireless work and unwavering commitment.

The festivities kicked off in the tea room, where community nurses gathered to enjoy a delightful selection of cakes and beverages. The atmosphere was filled with joy as staff embraced the spirit of the day by dressing up as their heroes, showcasing their appreciation for the hard work that goes into caring for others.

A highlight of the day was honouring Ann, a retired District Nurse and esteemed resident of Woodbury Court. Ann began her nursing career at the tender age of 16 and holds the distinction of being the first-ever nurse to visit Woodbury Court when it was known as the Woodards in 1972. Reflecting on her early days as a nurse, Ann shared, “I remember visiting as a nurse all those years ago, and I’m so happy that I have chosen to come and live here at Woodbury Court. It was lovely that the staff took the time to appreciate the nurses and NHS staff for all their hard work.”

The NHS and Emergency Service Appreciation Day not only celebrated the dedication of healthcare professionals but also strengthened the bonds between residents and staff at Woodbury Court. The event was a testament to the collective appreciation of the invaluable contributions that healthcare workers make to our community every day.
