Tallis House care home, part of the Runwood Homes group, hosted a meaningful and emotional Remembrance Day Service for their residents, which took place on the 11th of November. The event was organised by Lifestyle Coordinators Rachel and Clare and featured Philip Clegg, a funeral director from Daniel Robinson & Sons, who led a moving service in honour of fallen soldiers. The service included prayers and hymns, offering residents an opportunity to reflect on their personal experiences and share memories of the war. This meaningful moment allowed residents to connect with each other while paying tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Following the service, the atmosphere shifted as Roly, a local performer, entertained residents with songs from the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. Residents sang and danced along, enjoying a lively and fun-filled time together. The combination of remembrance and celebration created a memorable day for all involved, blending emotional reflection with uplifting joy.
“Remembrance Day is such an important occasion for everyone at Tallis House, as it provides an opportunity for residents to honour the brave men and women who served during the war,” said Rachel, Lifestyle Coordinator at Tallis House. “It was incredibly moving to see residents sharing their personal stories and reflecting on their memories of the war. Roly’s music was the perfect way to lift everyone’s spirits and bring the community together.”
“Today’s service was a truly beautiful moment of remembrance,” commented Georgina Braithwaite, Home Manager at Tallis House. “The event showcased the strong sense of community here at Tallis House, and I am proud of both our team and the residents for coming together in such a meaningful way. It was a day that captured the essence of respect, remembrance, and togetherness.”
