On 5th of January, Friend in Deed partnered with Musical Keys to host an inclusive music and movement session at Windmill House care home, part of the Runwood Homes group, bringing together residents, babies, children, and their carers for a morning filled with creativity and joy.
Lifestyle Coordinator Ewelina Toropow arranged the event in collaboration with Friend in Deed and Musical Keys, an organisation committed to providing accessible creative opportunities for individuals with disabilities and additional needs.
The session aimed to foster intergenerational connections, an essential aspect of well-being for the residents of Windmill House. The interaction with younger generations stimulates emotional engagement and promotes cognitive and social benefits, while the shared experience of music and movement nurtures self-expression and inclusivity for all involved.
The event brought smiles, laughter, and heartfelt moments as participants explored music and movement together. Residents, babies, and children alike discovered the joy of creative participation in a supportive and welcoming environment.
“We had a fantastic morning with an inclusive music and movement session with Musical Keys, who provide an inclusive intergenerational music session for babies, children, and their carers. It has started the year off with some beautiful intergenerational friendships, and we are now welcoming Ray from Musical Keys to join us every first Monday of the month,” said Lifestyle Coordinator Ewelina Toropow.
This successful collaboration sets the stage for more regular sessions, with Musical Keys now becoming a recurring part of Windmill House’s monthly activities. Together, Friend in Deed and Musical Keys will continue to create meaningful and inclusive experiences for all participants.
