Residents at Frank Foster House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, recently experienced the therapeutic benefits of flower arrangement therapy, an activity designed to inspire creativity, relaxation, and a deeper connection with nature.

The event, which took place on 13th January, brought together all residents and staff in a collaborative effort to create beautiful floral displays. Home Manager, Nicolas Kee Mew, who participated in the activity, shared their thoughts: “I enjoyed the flower arrangements.”

Flower arrangement therapy combines the art of floral design with meditation, offering participants a chance to express their creativity while benefiting from the calming effects of nature. This practice is said to stimulate the senses through colour therapy, aromatherapy, and the hands-on process of arranging flowers. It also fosters a sense of accomplishment and well-being, making it a powerful tool for relaxation and personal growth.

“The positive energy of flowers is food for the soul,” noted a staff member. “This activity brings healing through visual stimulation, natural scents, and creative engagement.”

The idea for the session stemmed directly from the residents, who expressed an interest in exploring floral art. The atmosphere during the event was described as warm and uplifting, with participants enjoying the chance to connect with one another and with the natural beauty of the flowers.

The success of this activity highlights the importance of engaging residents in meaningful and therapeutic experiences, and the team at Frank Foster House Care Home looks forward to organising similar events in the future.
