Residents from Brewster House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, recently enjoyed a beautiful and memorable trip to Flatford Mill, the iconic site of John Constable’s renowned painting The Haywain.
The idea for the outing came about after staff at Brewster House asked residents where they would like to visit. One resident, Sylvia, fondly recalled her past visits to Flatford Mill and shared how much she loved The Haywain, a painting she had once seen in a London gallery. Inspired by her story, the team arranged a day out to the historic site.
Five residents joined the ladies’ day out, which included a scenic drive, a visit to the tearoom, and plenty of opportunities to take in the beautiful surroundings.
“It was a lovely day, full of happy ladies and very scenic,” said lifestyle coordinator Leoni.
Amy, Brewster House‘s other lifestyle coordinator, added, “It was gorgeous there. It was so great hearing the ladies chatter away like old friends.”
The atmosphere throughout the day was joyful and lively. Residents shared stories, sang on the journey, and celebrated together when their eagerly awaited tea and cakes arrived.
The most heartwarming moment came after the trip, as the ladies continued their conversations back at Brewster House, reminiscing, laughing, and enjoying each other’s company.
Outings like this are an important part of life at Brewster House. They allow residents to revisit places filled with personal meaning, sparking happy memories and creating new ones in the process.
