On Saturday 21st June, residents at Liberty House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, were delighted by a lively performance from the travelling theatre group, the Northeast Producers. Their show, No Business Like Show Business, featured music, singing, dancing, and plenty of laughter. The cast performed scenes from well-loved musicals such as Mary Poppins, My Fair Lady, Calamity Jane, and many more, creating a memorable experience for all in attendance.
One resident, Anne, shared her enjoyment of the show, saying it was a great performance that made her laugh a lot and provided wonderful music to sing along to.
The visit was arranged through the long-standing relationship between Jody, Liberty House’s lifestyle coordinator, and the Northeast Producers, who have been visiting the home twice a year for the past three years. Bringing live theatre into the home is particularly important for residents who find it difficult to go out, allowing them to continue enjoying enriching cultural experiences.
The atmosphere throughout the event was filled with smiles, singing, dancing, and laughter. A standout moment came when Charmaine, one of the residents, sang enthusiastically from start to finish, capturing the joyful spirit of the day.
This performance once again highlighted the positive impact live entertainment has on the wellbeing and happiness of residents at Liberty House.
