Residents from Redbond Lodge Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, enjoyed a special and uplifting visit to Danaher Animal Home on the 2nd of December, where they spent time with a variety of animals and delivered much-needed donations to support the centre.
Lifestyle Coordinator at Redbond Lodge, Karen, accompanied residents Myrtle, Mary, Sheila, and Ada, along with staff members Adam and Julie. Together, they brought donations including food, blankets, and cat bedding, items that the animal home relies on through fundraising and community support.
Karen explained that maintaining a connection with animals is incredibly meaningful for many residents, particularly those who have had pets throughout their lives.
Residents shared how much they “loved seeing the pet animals,” especially the cats and the visiting dog, Warwick.
This visit marked Redbond Lodge’s second trip to the centre, where the staff once again warmly welcomed them. David from Danaher Animal Home gave residents a guided tour of the cattery, rabbit area, and guinea pig enclosures, while another staff member introduced their dog Warwick for residents to meet.
The atmosphere throughout the visit was joyful and nostalgic, filled with smiles and gentle interactions. The standout moment of the day was simply witnessing the happiness on residents’ faces as they spent time with the animals.
Redbond Lodge looks forward to continuing this meaningful partnership, supporting the animal home while creating memorable experiences for residents.
