When Mabel first moved into Rose House care home, part of the Runwood Homes group, the team felt that something special might be about to unfold. Noticing that Mabel and fellow resident Judith shared similar personalities and a love of fun, they introduced the two, and from that very first meeting, a truly beautiful friendship began.
Judith warmly welcomed Mabel and accompanied her through daily life at Rose House, helping her to settle in with kindness and reassurance. An immediate and natural bond formed, growing stronger through shared interests and activities. While Mabel enjoys completing word searches and Judith finds comfort in colouring, what they treasure most is simply being together. Often, they can be found sitting side by side in comfortable silence, finding peace and happiness in each other’s presence.
Over time, their connection has deepened into something that feels more like sisterhood than friendship. Each morning, Judith lovingly makes Mabel a coffee in the day room – a small yet deeply meaningful routine that reflects the care, devotion, and kindness they show one another every single day.
This heartwarming friendship is being shared as part of Runwood Homes’ company-wide initiative, Valentine’s Takeover at Runwood Homes – a special week dedicated to celebrating love in all forms, from friendship and companionship to kindness and care across Runwood Homes communities.
Having found each other at Rose House, Mabel and Judith are grateful, giving thanks each day for a friendship that has brightened their lives and made their journey together deeply meaningful.
