Residents from Longview Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, recently enjoyed a fun and educational day out with a bus trip to Chelmsford Museum, followed by lunch together and a sweet treat on the journey home.

The outing took place on 9 March 2026 and was organised after residents expressed an interest in visiting somewhere new and interesting during a recent residents’ meeting.

Residents and staff travelled together by bus to the museum, where they spent time exploring the fascinating exhibits and learning about local history and technology. After looking around the museum, the group enjoyed lunch together before heading back home. To top off the day, residents were treated to a surprise McFlurry on the bus ride back.

One of the highlights of the visit came from resident ambassador Michael, who shared his knowledge and enthusiasm while exploring the displays. Having previously worked with cameras and radios, he enjoyed explaining some of the technology exhibits to others, making the experience even more engaging for the group.

The atmosphere throughout the trip was described as fun and relaxed, with plenty of laughter and conversation.

Jan, a volunteer at Longview Care Home who accompanied the group, added:
“I had a lovely time accompanying the residents today. It was nice to be able to help them visit a place they haven’t been before. The museum was so interesting and the lunch was lovely.”

The trip highlights Longview Care Home’s commitment to supporting residents in staying active, engaged and connected with their local community through meaningful outings and shared experiences.
