Residents at Evelyn May House, part of the Runwood Homes Group, marked National Picnic Day with a lively picnic-themed gathering that brought everyone together for an afternoon of conversation, laughter and delicious refreshments.
Held in the home’s café on 18 June, the event provided a warm and welcoming opportunity for residents to socialise while enjoying sandwiches, cake, cupcakes, cheese and crackers, alongside tea and coffee. The celebration also served as the perfect occasion to introduce two new residents to the community, helping them feel at home and build new friendships.
The atmosphere throughout the afternoon was vibrant, with residents sharing stories, reminiscing and getting to know one another. One particularly heartwarming moment came when new resident Shirley began talking about television programmes she used to enjoy. Fellow resident Dawn recognised the shows, sparking an animated conversation that soon had everyone sharing fond memories of classic television.
One new resident commented on how welcoming the gathering had been, saying she was already beginning to feel settled and at home.
The picnic highlighted Evelyn May House’s commitment to supporting residents’ emotional wellbeing through meaningful social activities that encourage confidence, communication and community.
