Residents of Windmill House Celebrate Emergency Services Day with Visit to Thetford Fire Station

To celebrate Emergency Services Day, Residents of Windmill House care home, part of Runwood Homes group, enjoyed a minibus outing to Thetford Fire Station to meet the firefighting team, explore the station and learn more about the vital work they carry out every day.

The residents also learned about the many responsibilities involved in the fire fighters’ roles and about the dedication and courage required to work in the emergency services.

GW, one of the residents at Windmill House, described the visit as: “A lovely morning meeting the firemen, looking around the fire station at Thetford, looking at all their equipment and learning just how much is involved in their important job.”

PB, also a resident at Windmill House, shared their thoughts on the morning: “A fantastic morning celebrating Emergency Service Day, meeting all the firemen and learning about all their hard work and dedication. Very brave men and women to do this job.”

It was a wonderful morning of learning, appreciation and community connection, giving residents the chance to meet some of the people behind the emergency services and gain a greater understanding of the important work they do.
