On Sunday 29th June, residents and staff at Longview Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, were transported to the tropics for a vibrant Hawaiian Day celebration. Themed decorations, colourful outfits, and plenty of island-inspired fun brought sunshine and smiles all around, fitting for what turned out to be one of the hottest days of the year!
The dining room was transformed into a Hawaiian paradise for a special themed lunch, complete with delicious pizza, fresh fruit, and refreshing sangria. Before the meal, residents enjoyed a Hawaiian-themed quiz, word searches, and fascinating facts about the island of Hawaii. Staff brought the energy with lively performances, dancing, and even hula hooping to entertain everyone.
One of the standout moments of the day was watching the deputy manager take centre stage to perform a surprise hula dance, which had everyone laughing and clapping along. Selfies with themed props added to the lively, cheerful atmosphere.
Vivian Laurent, Manager at Longview, also summarised the day, commenting, “It was an amazing day. Everyone enjoyed having fun with the residents. We loved all the food and drinks, and I am proud of my team for creating such special events for our beloved residents.”
With Hawaiian Day now a much-anticipated annual tradition at Longview, this year’s event was another joyful success, reminding everyone of the power of fun, laughter, and community.
