Residents at Chelmunds Court, part of the Runwood Homes Group, recently enjoyed a moving morning of reminiscing as they came together to share stories from their working lives.
Following breakfast, residents gathered in the lounge for a special group activity centred around one simple question: “What was your career?” As each resident took turns sharing their experiences, the room quickly filled with stories. From careers in the Armed Forces to a wide variety of professions, every story highlighted a lifetime of achievement.
A member of the Chelmunds Court team said:
“It was so inspirational listening to how hard the residents worked. Many of the residents served in the army, and it was so sad yet heartwarming to listen to their memories. One of the residents also commented that it made their day thinking back on their life, and it made them feel proud.”
The activity had a lasting impact, with conversations continuing throughout the day as residents reflected on their memories together.
One resident commented:
“This has made me feel so special. Having someone listening to my stories helps me remember how much I enjoyed my life.”
Reminiscence activities play an important role in supporting emotional wellbeing, helping residents reconnect with positive memories, and celebrate their achievements.
