Residents and staff at Frank Foster House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group,  came together to mark St George’s Day with a joyful and inclusive celebration filled with tradition, music, and community spirit.

The home was beautifully decorated in red and white bunting, St George’s flags, and floral displays, creating a warm and festive atmosphere throughout the communal areas. The celebration was designed to honour English heritage while bringing residents together for a day of meaningful engagement and shared memories.

The morning focused on reminiscence and conversation, with residents encouraged to share childhood memories, favourite places in England, and reflections on past St George’s Day celebrations. This was followed by a traditional English lunch featuring roast dishes, seasonal vegetables, and classic desserts such as apple crumble and custard.

In the afternoon, everyone joined in for a lively singalong, alongside themed quizzes about English history and landmarks, as well as creative craft activities. Residents also enjoyed a traditional afternoon tea with scones, sponge cake, and fresh strawberries.

Nicolas, Home Manager at Frank Foster House, said: “Days like St George’s Day are important for creating meaningful engagement and a sense of community. Our residents really enjoyed the activities, and it was wonderful to see so many smiles and shared memories throughout the day.”

Celebrations like these form an important part of life at Frank Foster House, supporting wellbeing, encouraging social interaction, and creating opportunities for residents and staff to come together in a positive way.
