Orchard Blythe Residents Soak Up the Seaside at Weston-super-Mare

Residents at Orchard Blythe Care Home enjoyed a fantastic day out at Weston-super-Mare on 1 July, travelling in the home’s company minibus for their much-anticipated annual seaside trip after requesting the outing during a recent residents’ meeting.

The group spent the day strolling along the promenade and pier, taking in the sea views over a cup of tea before enjoying traditional fish and chips together on the pier. Residents then had great fun in the amusement arcade, playing the classic 2p machines and other games, before walking along the beach and sand. To round off the day, everyone enjoyed a picnic overlooking the sea before making the journey home.

The trip gave residents the opportunity to enjoy the fresh sea breeze, sunshine and time with friends and family while reminiscing about childhood holidays and creating new memories together. The atmosphere throughout the day was filled with smiles, laughter and plenty of conversation.

Michelle, Lifestyle Coordinator, said: “Trips like this are so important for residents to enjoy the fresh sea air, reminisce about past holidays and spend quality time with friends and family, creating new memories together.”

Residents shared their enjoyment of the day, with one saying, “The memories I have of visiting Weston when younger are coming back to me.” Another added, “Today has been wonderful. Going on the pier for fish and chips was the best,” while a third resident said, “What an amazing day we have all had together.”

One of the highlights of the trip was seeing the residents’ faces as they enjoyed their fish and chips on the pier, with many commenting that it always tastes better at the seaside.
