Residents, families, friends and staff at Rose House care home, part of the Runwood Homes group, came together on Friday 8 May 2026 to mark Victory in Europe (VE) Day with a heartfelt celebration filled with music, dancing, remembrance and community spirit.
The home was transformed with patriotic bunting and 1940s-themed decorations as residents enjoyed a traditional afternoon tea accompanied by live entertainment from Annie the Entertainer. Family members joined residents on the dance floor, creating a joyful and uplifting atmosphere throughout the afternoon.
The event brought together residents, relatives, friends and staff, providing an opportunity for different generations to reflect on the significance of VE Day and recognise the importance of peace, remembrance and community.
One of the standout moments of the afternoon came when residents joined Annie the Entertainer in singing familiar wartime songs. The room was filled with laughter, smiles and emotional memories as many residents sang along, clapped and shared stories from years gone by.
Residents and guests at Rose House described the afternoon as heartwarming and full of pride, making it a truly special occasion for everyone involved.
