Residents, families, and staff at Laureate Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, were recently treated to an unforgettable afternoon of music, laughter, and show-stopping performances as the home proudly presented its very own ‘Stars in Their Eyes’ celebration on Thursday 22nd May.
In a heartfelt nod to the beloved TV show, the event saw staff and family members step out of their comfort zones to entertain residents with passionate renditions of classic hits. The idea, brought to life by lifestyle coordinators Sharon and Dan, was designed as a throwback experience for residents while encouraging fun and inclusion across the wider care home community.
“It was amazing to see staff and family members push themselves out of their comfort zones to sing and entertain the residents,” said Sharon Dean, Lifestyle Co-ordinator. “It was a fantastic event enjoyed by all.”
The atmosphere throughout the day was electric, full of joy and laughter. Residents clapped and sang along, creating a warm and inclusive environment where everyone felt part of the celebration.
Three staff members took to the stage with enthusiasm and flair, but it was kitchen assistant Leah who took the crown with a stunning Amy Winehouse tribute. An extra special moment came when the daughter of one resident gave a beautiful and emotional performance of Cilla Black, earning thunderous applause from the audience.
The event brought people together, reminding everyone of the joy that music and connection can bring. Residents, staff, and families alike described it as an uplifting experience and a true highlight in the home’s calendar.
