Redbond Lodge Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, was filled with laughter, teamwork, and the sweet aroma of freshly baked treats on Wednesday 12th June, as four male residents took part in a special baking session ahead of the home’s Father’s Day Coffee Morning.

Residents Peter, Eddie, Cyril and Ron took the lead in baking cakes for the weekend celebration. Despite one gentleman sharing he had never cooked or baked before, the group rose to the challenge with enthusiasm and skill.

Dressed in chef’s hats and aprons, the residents carefully weighed, measured, and mixed their ingredients—each making a different cake: carrot, vanilla sponge, marble, and lemon. They encouraged and supported one another throughout, creating not only delicious bakes but a truly wonderful atmosphere.

During the session, Peter shared a lovely story about how his son once won a baking competition with a carrot cake recipe—beating members of the local Women’s Institute. The anecdote added a personal and joyful touch to the morning.

The morning was a great success, with all four gentlemen expressing how much they enjoyed the event. The cakes were proudly served at Redbond Lodge’s Father’s Day Coffee Morning—baked with care, laughter, and plenty of heart.
