Park View Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, recently celebrated the traditional harvest festival of Onam with a vibrant and heart-warming team-building event. The celebration brought staff together in a lively display of unity, cultural heritage, and festive cheer, with residents joining in to enjoy the atmosphere and decorations.

Onam, a festival that symbolises togetherness and abundance, was embraced in full spirit at Park View Care Home. Staff wore traditional Indian attire, with women dressed in beautiful saris and men in traditional garments. Residents contributed by helping create stunning floral decorations, while the day also featured games and a delicious feast of authentic Indian dishes, including curries and rice specialties.

The event was designed as a team-building activity to strengthen staff bonds, celebrate diversity, and create memories within the home.

Lifestyle Coordinator Bridie Hitches said:
“We’ve really enjoyed creating this event as a team. Onam is a festival rooted in unity and togetherness, and this gave us a wonderful opportunity to reflect that spirit within our own staff community. It was lovely to see everyone’s team spirit and to come together in celebration.”

Home Manager Dani Pathirage added:
“This event forms part of Parkview Warwick’s ongoing commitment to building a positive, inclusive working environment, where carers and team members feel recognised, supported, and valued.”

Deputy Manager Alicia Smallwood commented:
“It was a great event. It showed the dedication and togetherness of the team we’ve built. The celebration was amazing, and I’ll always be proud of their hard work in making this happen.”

Residents and staff alike praised the atmosphere. Resident Gordon Hudson shared:
“I really enjoyed seeing the team spirit. I also enjoyed watching the events.”

Care Team Leader, Ebin Mathew, reflected on the day:
“This has been a great event. I am so happy the day was successful and the team enjoyed the Onam Festival. It was a wonderful celebration.”

The highlights of the day were the vibrant clothing, delicious food, and fantastic atmosphere that truly captured the spirit of Onam.
