Chelmunds Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, is honoured to have received a deeply meaningful donation from Shirley and the Knitbitz group at St. Andrew’s Church: beautifully handcrafted yellow ribbon crochet angels, created as a symbol of comfort and dignity for residents receiving end-of-life care.
The angels, each made with exceptional care and compassion, were delivered to the home by Shirley, where staff warmly welcomed her before placing the angels on the doors of residents at the end-of-life stage. This gentle gesture offers a touching way to honour residents, provide comfort to their families, and support staff during these emotional moments.
The Home Manager at Chelmunds Court expressed heartfelt gratitude, saying:
“It’s wonderfully crafted, and a huge thank you to the group at church for making these angels for us.”
This thoughtful gift grew from Chelmunds Court’s collaboration with the St. Andrew’s Knitbitz group, who wished to support the home in a meaningful way. After learning that yellow ribbons represent residents on end-of-life care at the home, the group chose to create these crochet angels as a companion symbol of peace, respect, and compassion.
The atmosphere during the visit was warm, heartfelt, and reflective, with staff deeply moved by the generosity behind each handmade piece.
A standout moment came as the angels were placed on residents’ doors, bringing quiet comfort and a sense of tenderness to families and team members alike.
Chelmunds Court extends sincere thanks to Shirley and the St. Andrew’s Knitbitz group for their kindness, creativity, and support of the home’s residents and community.
