Braywood Gardens Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, is proud to celebrate Care Team Leader, Harun, who successfully completed the Adidas Manchester Marathon on 19 April 2026 in support of the Alzheimer’s Society.
Harun ran the full 26.2 miles to raise both funds and awareness for dementia research and support services, inspired by his daily work within the care sector and the impact dementia has on residents and families.
Speaking about the challenge, Harun said:
“I ran the marathon for the Alzheimer’s Society as I feel it is so important to raise awareness. Working in a care setting, we see the devastation this disease can cause, and I wanted to play my part in raising money for a hopeful cure in the future, or at least a delay in the onset of this disease.”
The atmosphere throughout the event was described as “electric”, with thousands of supporters lining the streets to cheer on participants taking part for causes close to their hearts.
Harun’s efforts reflect Braywood Gardens’ ongoing commitment to supporting individuals living with dementia and promoting greater understanding within the wider community. By taking on this personal challenge, Harun has helped shine a light on the importance of continued research, support, and awareness surrounding Alzheimer’s disease and dementia care.
Everyone at Braywood Gardens congratulates Harun on this incredible achievement and thanks him for his dedication both inside and outside of the home.
