Runwood Homes is proud to announce the launch of its Dementia Champion Competition 2026, held in celebration of Dementia Action Week (18–24 May). The initiative recognises and celebrates outstanding practice across its communities, highlighting the dedication, creativity, and compassion of its Dementia Champions.
Dementia Champions are staff or residents in each home across the group who play a vital role in raising awareness and understanding of dementia. They act as the first point of contact within their homes, supporting colleagues, residents, and families, and helping to embed best practice in dementia care.
The competition invited entries from across Runwood Homes’ services, showcasing innovative approaches to enhancing the quality of life for people living with dementia. Submissions demonstrated a strong commitment to person-centred care, meaningful engagement, and continuous improvement in dementia support.
Following a review process, Runwood Homes is delighted to announce the winners of the 2026 Dementia Champion Competition:
- 1st Place: Bramwell
- 2nd Place: Humfrey Lodge
- 3rd Place: Silvanna Court
Each winning entry stood out for its innovative practice and clear commitment to improving outcomes and wellbeing for people living with dementia. The quality of submissions across all entries was exceptionally high, reflecting the passion and professionalism of teams across the organisation.
Throughout Dementia Action Week, Runwood Homes will be sharing each winning entry to raise awareness and to celebrate the individuals and teams driving excellence in dementia care.
