Residents at Blackthorns are celebrating their creativity, as their artwork will be displayed at The People’s Gallery from 4 August for one month. This is the third year Blackthorns has taken part in the exhibition, giving residents the chance to share their talents with the wider community.
Michelle, Lifestyle Coordinator at Blackthorns, said: “Our residents have really enjoyed being creative and participating together. It has been lovely to see them come together and celebrate their skills.”
Over several weeks, residents collected stones from the garden, painted their own designs, and brought them together onto a canvas ready for display. Several residents took part, enjoying the opportunity to express themselves and create something special.
The idea was inspired by the local stone-painting tradition in Halstead, where painted stones are hidden around the town for people to find, helping residents feel connected to the community spirit.
The highlight was seeing everyone’s individual creations combined into one piece of artwork ready to celebrate Art in Care Homes Month.
