Residents Enjoy Hawaiian BBQ Fundraiser at Bracebridge Court Care Home

Residents, families, staff and members of the local community came together for a Hawaiian BBQ fundraiser at Bracebridge Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes group, on Saturday 25th July, raising money for the home’s residents’ amenities fund and Age UK.

The courtyard garden was transformed into a tropical setting where guests enjoyed a delicious barbecue, live entertainment from a ukulele band and plenty of time to socialise in the summer sunshine. The event was organised by Lifestyle Coordinators Elaine and Sarah, with support from other team members and volunteers.

Inspired by the recent warm weather, the fundraiser aimed to bring residents, families and the community together while raising funds to support activities and entertainment that enhance residents’ quality of life.

Elaine and Sarah, Lifestyle Coordinators, said: “Seeing residents, families and the local community enjoying the day together made all the hard work worthwhile. It was wonderful to raise funds while creating happy memories, and we’re grateful to everyone who supported the event.”

Resident Peter said: “The team couldn’t have done a better job – and the ukulele band were entertaining.” Fellow resident Hilda added: “The event was a great success. The food was delicious – I had a BBQ sausage batch. The ukulele band were tremendous.”

Hilda’s daughter praised the event as “well organised – full credit to the Lifestyle Team,” while community member Wendy said: “Very enjoyable event – food was scrummy, and it was excellent to see the community come together.”

The fundraiser created lasting memories while strengthening links between Bracebridge Court Care Home and the local community.
